Privacy

I don’t collect any data about visitors to this site, unless you choose to receive notifications. I don’t use cookies, analytics or tracking, and no third-party content is loaded when a page opens.

Your browser keeps only a few pieces of information, which are never sent to anyone:

  • the last page you visited, for the button that takes you back to the section in your language: it stays in the tab and is deleted when you close it;
  • the lighter version of the site, or the darker version of the political section (a separate section, in Italian only), if you choose it with the button at the top right, so that pages open straight away in the colours you prefer;
  • the reading font, if you choose a different one at the bottom of the pages;
  • if you use them, your choices about notifications and YouTube videos, described below.

You can delete all your data at any time with the button at the bottom of this page.

Notifications

If you turn on notifications, with the button or the invitation that appears on the site, your browser creates a delivery address with the notification service it uses (Google for Chrome and Android, Mozilla for Firefox, Apple for Safari). I store that address on a server of my own, together with the sections you chose, only to let you know when I publish a post or present a motion. The address doesn’t contain your name, your email address or any other information about you; I don’t use it for anything else or share it with anyone. The server doesn’t log IP addresses either. Each notification goes through your browser’s notification service, which delivers it to your device.

The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time: just turn notifications off with the same button or in your browser’s settings, and the address is deleted. Your browser also keeps the sections you chose and, if you answered “No, thanks” to the invitation, the date of your answer, so that the invitation isn’t shown again for two months.

YouTube videos

Some videos on this site are hosted on YouTube. The page shows only a cover image, stored on my site: until you press “play”, your browser does not contact YouTube or Google. If you start the video, the YouTube player loads in its “no-cookie” version (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube (that is, Google) receives your IP address and technical information about your browser, as with any video you watch on YouTube. I don’t receive any data. To learn how Google handles this data, see its privacy policy. If you prefer not to start the player, there is always a link to watch the video on YouTube instead.

Before the first video, I ask for your consent. If you agree, your browser remembers your choice (it stores only the date), and later videos start straight away. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing the site’s data in your browser; if you have given it, you will also find a button to do so at the bottom of this page.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which logs visitors’ IP addresses for security purposes. I don’t have access to this data: to learn how GitHub handles it and to exercise your rights over it, see its privacy statement and use the contact details given there.

Delete your data

This button deletes everything the site keeps about you: it turns off notifications and removes this browser’s subscription from my server, withdraws your consent to YouTube videos and clears the information stored in your browser (your notification sections, your answer to the invitation, the lighter or darker version of the site, the reading font and the last page you visited).

This only applies to this browser: if you also turned on notifications on another device, do the same there.
